Zoom Laser Teeth Whitening and Bleaching
Do over the counter teeth whitening gels work? That’s the number one question I get about Zoom laser teeth whitening vs. over the counter products. The honest-answer is they do, but not very well.
There are two reasons they don’t work well: they’re not prescription strength, and they don’t give you a medical laser to activate the whitening gel. Without these features products like Crest Whitening Strips produce marginal results.
Is Laser Teeth Whitening Safe?
Yes. Zoom laser whitening uses a proven-safe peroxide-based gel solution to remove unwanted stains from your teeth. The laser simply activates it by helping the enamel absorb the peroxide.
What are the Side Effects of Laser Teeth Whitening?
Most of the time, there are no side effects of bleaching your teeth; however, some patients have temporary sensitivity or tingling sensation in their teeth for a day or so.
Does Laser Teeth Whitening Hurt?
No. Whitening your teeth using a Zoom laser is a painless procedure. In our office you can sit back, relax, and watch TV while we whiten your smile.
How Long Does Zoom Bleaching Take?
We only bleach your teeth for about an hour, depending on how white you want them. However, the first step of the procedure, isolating your gums from the laser, usually takes about twenty minutes. Also, removing the isolation when finished, takes another twenty minutes or so. So, the whole process from start to finish takes about two hours.
How Long Does Tooth Whitening Last?
This is a tough question to answer as everyone eats and drinks different foods. The more coffee, red wine, etc. you drink, the sooner will your teeth discolor. Most people see the effects of laser whitening start to fade after a year. The good news is we will also give you take-home whitening trays and gel, so you can “touch up” your white smile at home.
How much does Zoom whitening cost?
Our normal fee for Zoom laser whitening is $695. However, we frequently have specials and discounts for new patients, and that can bring the price down considerably. The best thing to do is call our office and see if we have any Zoom whitening specials going on.
Does Dental Insurance Cover Laser Teeth Whitening?
Unfortunately, dental insurance does not cover laser whitening. However, some flex spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA) will allow you to use your tax-free money for laser whitening. It is best to contact your HSA or FSA administrator to confirm.
